Denver

Denver 04:03
You say that I should have gone to Denver: "It's never been so cold in September" But I'm OK without flying It would be good if you’d stop trying The fading summer again erases What we used to collect in our places Where a pleasure was high But the water of South Platte is running dry How can you be so invested, How can you file it like a real case now? How do you list your intentions Now that it's gone, like it never existed? How do you know if I'm up for reload? Where do I belong? How will the missing part align? Your catalogue is a mess, remember What you try to address like a gambler Is never going to get traction I really know in advance your reaction The sky is opening up over Denver That’s not a reason for me to get there
There’s a part of me that’s dying And there’s another that keeps striving How can you be so invested, How can you file it like a real case now? How do you list your intentions Now that it's gone, like it never existed? How do you know if I'm up for reload? Where do I belong? I know, I know you're right to say I will be chasing yesterday

Sometimes 04:14
Looking through the crack in the wall I've been trying to find just a glimpse of your face and your glance You're shining like a quasar Hiding from my radars Independently I grow old Looking for the entrance into your real world, but I doubt If there is any door designed for anybody On a frightening nighttime I've got a fever On a frightening nighttime I have got a load of pain Sometimes I'm running low on sanity Sunshine is giving me only misery Sometimes I feel I lack bravery To follow that cosmic trajectory Sharing all the news that I got Even though I know for a fact You won't be listening You’re far beyond the point of No return in my life The steady cadence of inner drum Is getting louder as I get closer to your shelter It may be the reason, it may be the reason why On a frightening nighttime I got a fever On a frightening nighttime I can see another day Sometimes I try to beat gravity Sunshine is giving me only misery Sometimes I feel I lack bravery To follow that cosmic trajectory

about

Jan’s new EP, coming out in the anticipation of the next album, was actually supposed to be just one song. Co-written during the lockdown with his former bandmate and long-time pal Mats Cooper, it all started with a simple voice memo that only had a couple of lines, some finger snaps to mark the rhythm, and the ambience of the medium-sized room filled with someone else’s longing for real-world communication and uncertainty that were ruling the world at that moment. Quickly enough, the rough demo (parts of which you can still hear in the intro to “Denver”) became a full-blown song or, rather, two songs that at first were given the working titles “Denver, pt. 1” and “Denver, pt. 2” (guess which is which now!). Both songs have both indie and experimentalist touch to them, the former being due to the mutual influence of the co-writers, and the latter being the natural consequence of Jan’s growing interest in effect chains and uncharted soundscapes. Both tracks will also be included in the LP planned for release later this fall.

about

Jan Vaschuk Berlin, Germany

Hi, my name is Jan, I'm a composer, pianist and music producer. I was a drummer in an indie band, after that I started a solo trip hop project which uncontrollably turned into a post-britpop duo as I was joined by an uber talented guitarist. Later on, I moved to Mars where I learned to play piano and started writing dance music for low-gravity worlds. It would probably be easier to just listen. ... more
